The curriculum "Artificial Intelligence: From Concept to Application for Extracurricular Activities for 5th and 6th Grades of Elementary School" is an educational program developed by the Croatian Academic and Research Network - CARNET with the aim of strengthening and developing students' competences necessary for understanding artificial intelligence, its applications in everyday life and its impact on human lives.

The curriculum is focused on fostering curiosity, understanding basic concepts, and recognizing the applications of artificial intelligence and emerging technologies in everyday life. Through play, exploration, and hands-on tasks, students will acquire fundamental knowledge and skills and develop responsible behavior in a digital environment. In short, the goal is to equip students to work responsibly, practically, and creatively with emerging technologies, while maintaining a critical attitude towards them.

It is recommended that the curriculum be implemented by Informatics teachers in primary schools, as well as all other interested teachers and educators who want to include teaching about artificial intelligence in their practice, who would like to use artificial intelligence tools to achieve educational outcomes, and who would like to prepare their students for life and work in the world of artificial intelligence and emerging technologies. The activity is recommended to be implemented in the 5th and 6th grades of primary school for 35 hours per year, and the curriculum also allows for implementation by thematic units in other subjects in primary schools.

The curriculum was developed by a Working Group consisting of teachers from the technical, IT, mathematical and language-communication fields, primary school teaching, vocational subjects, as well as pedagogues, experts in the field of computer science, representatives of the economy, representatives of CARNET and project partners on the project "Application of digital technologies based on artificial intelligence in education - BrAIn".
