AudioPen is an application (web, mobile, and desktop) that converts voice notes into clear, structured text using artificial intelligence. Unlike traditional transcription, it does not preserve the original speech verbatim; instead, it reformulates it by removing filler words and unnecessary content, and generates text in a selected style (e.g. email, summary, or legal text). It is also possible to define a custom style by writing or uploading a sample.
The tool works on a free-speaking principle: users speak without preparation, and AudioPen automatically edits and structures the content. Data is encrypted and not used for model training, while audio recordings are deleted after processing.
The advanced version, AudioPen Prime, allows uploading audio files (up to 100 every 4 weeks, up to 100 MB per file), creating and summarizing notes, and merging multiple notes into a single summary (SuperSummaries).
It is available on the web, iOS, Android, Mac (M1 and newer), and as a Chrome extension. The Mac version enables dictation within other applications with automatic text insertion.
The free plan is limited to recordings up to 3 minutes and a maximum of 10 notes. Advanced features (longer recordings, custom styles, unlimited notes) are available through the Prime plan, which is paid as a one-time fee ($33 for 3 months, $99 for one year, and $159 for 2 years).
In an educational context, the tool can be useful for quickly capturing ideas, preparing content, and providing feedback. However, the limitations of the free version may make regular use more difficult without a paid plan.
