Google has announced a new feature in its Gemini app that allows artificial intelligence to connect with personal data from Gmail, Google Photos, search history, and YouTube. The goal is for Gemini to provide “smarter” and more personalized answers, as it better understands the user’s context.
In practice, this means that AI could read the content of emails, analyze photos, track video viewing and search habits, and use that information to answer questions.
Although Google emphasizes that this option is only enabled with user consent and that the data is not used to train the model, this is very sensitive personal information that is connected to the AI system.

To protect your privacy, we recommend that you do not enable this option. The less personal data you share with AI tools, the lower the risk of unintended consequences, incorrect conclusions, or loss of control over your own digital footprint.
