BrAIn project highlighted as a good practice example in report on artificial intelligence in education

Projekt BrAIn istaknut kao primjer dobre prakse u izvješću o umjetnoj inteligenciji u obrazovanju

In the report published in December 2025 by the European Schoolnet organization entitled “Artificial Intelligence in School Education”, Croatia, primarily through the BrAIn project, was recognized as one of the leaders in the integration of artificial intelligence into the education system.

The report, which provides an overview of policies and initiatives in 23 European education systems, ranks Croatia among 13 countries that consider the topic of artificial intelligence in education a high priority. The BrAIn project is described in detail in the document as a comprehensive national initiative that sets standards in several key areas.

Strategic framework and ethical guidelines

The report particularly emphasizes the role of the BrAIn project in the development of national ethical guidelines and recommendations. CARNET, as part of the project, is developing frameworks for the responsible use of AI technologies, intended for all stakeholders in the system - from students and parents to teachers and principals. This approach is aligned with European efforts to ensure data privacy and user security.

Innovative curricula for a digital future

As a concrete example of integration into teaching, European Schoolnet highlights the development of new curricula as part of the BrAIn project. In particular, the curriculum for the elective course “Artificial Intelligence: From Concept to Application” is mentioned, intended for secondary school students, as well as the curriculum for extracurricular activities for students in grades 5 to 8 of primary school.

The goal of these programs is to develop critical thinking, understand how AI systems work, and prepare students for the labor market of the future. The report also commends the cooperation with the CroAI association, which connects schools with the Croatian technology sector, providing students with insight into the practical application of technology.

Personalized learning and e-Diary

One of the most technologically advanced aspects of the project that attracted attention in the report is the development of a smart recommendation system integrated with e-Diary. The system will use advanced data analytics to identify learning patterns and student affinities, providing teachers with tools for a personalized approach, and parents and students with timely information about progress.

The new Informativka platform will enable secure communication in the education system, while at the same time enriching data sources while protecting privacy.

Investing in education

While the report cites teachers’ readiness to use AI tools as one of the main challenges in all the analyzed education systems, the BrAIn project addressed this challenge from the very beginning through pre-planned and systematic training.

Conclusion

The report cites the BrAIn project as a central initiative by which Croatia addresses the integration of artificial intelligence into the education system. By developing national ethical guidelines and new educational content within this project, Croatia seeks to respond to technological and pedagogical demands that are currently the focus of education policies at the European level.
